Study on the Estimation of Age at Menopause in Korean Women

Abstract
|
|
|
The objective of this study is to estimate menopausal age by using the data on the National
Survey of Fertility and Family Health conducted by KIHSA in 1991. The results of this study are summarized as followings,
1. In the menopausal experience rate by age from the KIHSA´s data, the percent of women who had menopausal was 0.1 percent in 30-34 age group, 0.4 percent in 35-39 years, 4.0
percent in 40-44 years and 33.5 percent in 45-49 years. The median menopausal age by probit analysis was 49.71 years (Yi= -6.05600 + 0.22240 Xi)
2. The investigations of a secular trend age at menopause have considerable´ limitations as different method of sampling, different criteria of menopause definition and method for
analyzing data. It is necessary to set a standard methodological approach and to undertake a survey on the same population
